A New Year

Today is my 25th birthday. A quarter of a century to be exact. How exciting! Birthdays have always been a special occasion for me as I love to celebrate with family and friends. But this birthday feels a little different to me than past birthdays. I'm pondering what God wants me to do in my 25th year of life. Let's see...I've got the marriage, the degrees, the house, the job, a serving role in the church...what else does God have in store for me?

While I'm not sure exactly what God wants (and yes, I plan on praying over this) I do know what I desire: a deeper, more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, the author and lover of my soul. I want to be transformed over the coming year. I want to look back a year from now and say, "Wow! Look what God has done in and through my life!" I know its going to require some work on my part - 1) Quality time in God's word (I'm thinking about challenging myself to memorize scripture), 2) Time in prayer - talking to God about the deep things of life and doing it often, and 3) Fellowship with other believers. I pray for an increase of activity in each of these areas.

I don't know what the coming year holds, but I want to move forward with my mind set on eternity. I don't want to miss any opportunities to grow closer to God or help others come to know Him. I am thrilled to see where God will lead!

"God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end."
-Ecclesiastes 3:11, NLT
